In his conversation with Icy Tales, Jatin Gupta spoke about his journey of becoming a life coach and author while also adding his TEDx experience.
Q) Tell us about the journey of becoming a life coach.
Jatin Gupta – My journey of becoming a life coach was very exciting. Like a lot of other people, I did not have any idea of what life coaching in life was. I was a corporate slave for 14 years. There were issues because of many things that impacted my past as a child and that impacted adulthood.
So, many belief systems were born, and I did not know where they cropped up from when I was not a coach. While I was working in corporates, I also had issues with people around me, and also people had issues with me. And at the same time, it was also impacting my married life.
I was feeling very low and down, so I discussed this with one of my managers while working at corporates. And she happened to be a life coach as well, but at the work level, she was doing a different job. So, when I spoke to her, she made me quite calm and looked at the situation from a different perspective. And she recommended attending a three-day life coaching workshop.
A lot of gratitude for this organization called Landmark Worldwide, which is an organization that helps people in certain situations. It was a 12-hour each-day workshop, and they were close to 200 people in that batch. I got inspired because that taught me to look at different life perspectives.
Then I realized what a noble profession it was where you don’t make money, but you impact people’s lives and cause happiness in their life. And that was the turning point of my life in 2019 when my life changed.
Luckily, I decided I wanted to be a life coach while working in corporate. So my journey from Jatin Gupta to Inspiring Jatin began; that’s how I’m popularly known in the market.
Q) Tell us about your author journey
Jatin Gupta – My author’s journey started during the pandemic when one of my mentors, who certified me as a life coach, always told all of us to have a book because it helps to build credibility. It helps to bring awareness to people about what you do, what you are currently doing, and what you can do with your life.
We were said to have a book around our topic, work, and audience so it could help reach more people. When the lockdown came, organizations took time to give you work from home; it was a new concept. That is what I thought, and this is the right time to take advantage of time. Instead of wasting time at home, let’s start writing.
So that’s how I thought of writing my first book titled, Break Free to Break Through, and the subtitle is Shit Happens in Life; Your Happiness is your Responsibility. This book was inspired by one of my life coaching clients’ stories; it’s a true story.
Through this book, I attempted to spread awareness about life coaching and how and why one needs a life coach to help one live a happier, stronger, and better life. My first book was published on the 1st of September 2020, and it became a number one bestseller on Amazon within 22 hours of its launch.
Q) Your Instagram Bio says that you have inspired 20K+ lives. What pushed you to achieve this milestone?
Jatin Gupta – This journey of leaving corporate was like a boon about my entire journey because I am glad that before I lost my job, I already had plans to become a life coach. My certification and formalities were over, and I was into the practicing phase of being able to go ahead and transform lives while leaving behind my 14-year corporate career.
I realized that my approach was to help people and make them happy. The satisfaction that I could see in them was great. When my clients shared their experience of what my coaching had brought to them, that inspired me to go bigger in this journey and not pursue my corporate career. So that was the first push.
Most people who work in corporates want to be their boss, and I have wanted to do something on my own. Making this place a happier and a better place is something that inspired me to accept all those opportunities to speak on international platforms with a larger audience. I got invitations from many colleges and universities to give sessions to students because it was a new phase for all of us. We did not know how to come out of it.
So, I am so glad I became a life coach at the right time and in the right place in the right situation. And since then, it has brought a lot of push in my life. Now people know life coaching and are reaching out to us to live a better and happy life.
Q) You are a TEDx Speaker. Tell us your experience doing it.
Jatin Gupta – I watch a lot of TEDx videos. As I said, it was like a boon for me when all these opportunities came my way. I had no idea of how to reach out or could somebody reach out to speak for a TED Talk. I was still an emerging brand, so I did not know about the entire process.
Because of the pandemic, all TEDx physical events had stopped. So, at this time, the organizing committee of TEDx reached out to me through an email that they wanted me to speak at a virtual event. I got to be a part of TEDx, which was like a dream.
Only two people can give you advice or lessons on anything they promote. Either they have been successful at it, or they have been a failure at it. I chose the topic of relationships, especially romantic ones, because I’m going through a separation, so I know what can make or break a relationship.
Anybody who has been struggling with romantic relationships must watch my TED Talk. A video of fewer than 10 minutes speaks about how one can have a healthy romantic relationship. That is one of the reasons I also launched my second book, Rescue Your Romance.
Jatin Gupta also added that he wants to become India’s First Men’s Empowerment Coach as he feels men deserve due recognition in a few aspects. Jatin Gupta aspires to motivate more people to get better in their lives.
