Omar Mateen, the man who killed at least 50 people and injured 53 others in Orlando’s gay night club, was a masked man. Nobody would have guessed what was going on in his mind. Barrack Obama describes him as “a person filled with hate”.  Who would have thought a 29-year-old would go about killing people in the middle of the night. But then nobody thought that planes would come crashing down the twin towers too.

Omar Mir Seddique Mateen was a New York-born resident of Florida, and he wrote his name in history by carrying out the worst mass shooting in the country. Already being probed by the FBI and declared of having no potential threat, Omar was let to live a normal life. Now looking back at his doings and sayings, the puzzle fits in.

  1. Omar worked as a security guard which required him to train with weapons. The security company G4S confirmed his employment too. This choice of job would probably have been a part of his plan to get a clean chit in training.
  2. His father told that once he was outraged on seeing a same-sex couple kissing in front of his family.
  3. An ex-co-worker told NBC News that Mateen was racist, belligerent and “toxic.”
  4. Just before the attack, he called up 911 and confessed his allegiance to the leader of ISIS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi according to NBC.

“He was scary in a concerning way,” Gilory, a co-worker said. “And it wasn’t at times. It was all the time. He had anger management issues. Something would set him off, but the things that would set him off were always women, race or religion. [Those were] his button pushers.”

He hated women (not in a sexual way) and always derogated other religion, race, gender. His ex-wife, Sitora Yusufiy, who lives in Colorado, told reporters that Mateen was prone to violent behavior and beat her.

Omar Seddique Mateen clearly had anger related issues, a licensed gun and hatred towards homosexuals and other genders. In a world where the LGBT community is suffering enough, this man with his actions liberated some and made it worse for the others. The others would now include the Muslim community who would be again targeted for the wrong doings of one person.

He was killed by a SWAT member, but neither his death nor his trial can reduce the pain and suffering he has caused to humanity. Once again, evil won over love and somewhere the world has taken a step towards its doom again. I hope God punishes who messes up with Nature.
