Q) How do you manage your work life and family life?
Priti Pandit – People always think that work-life balance is only for those who go to the office and work. But don’t forget that Stay-At-Home mothers deserve work-life balance too.
Mom’s life is never boring. There are millions of mothers around the world who battle the everyday struggle of simply finding time to ‘do it all’ — myself included. There’s no secret “key” to being able to balance everything. If there were, we’d have all unlocked that door by now. When it comes to finding a work-life balance, it takes patience and understanding of your true goals.
But I believe we should define our physical and mental limits, and should stick to them.
I’m a firm believer that when you’re mentally healthy, it has a direct positive effect on your work-life balance. The longer that you run around and wear yourself out without giving yourself time to rest, the more crazy and chaotic your home life will be. That chaos leaves you with less time to take care of yourself. The moment that you understand your mental and physical limits as a mom, you’ll find a much more effective manner to do everything.
I understand that giving yourself time every day to relax may not be possible if you have a little tribe of children keeping you busy. But ask for help from your partner so you can collect yourself and be a strong mom again.
Q) Can you give some tips for new mothers/parents on How to take care of the babies along with taking care of yourself both mentally and physically?
Priti Pandit – A new baby brings more joy and more stress than you’ll feel at just about any other time in your life. It’s easy to get overwhelmed. Your baby’s needs seem endless — and it’s up to you to meet them. But to be your best as a parent, you have to take care of yourself, too.
Living abroad, we were not blessed with a village. So for me, my husband is the village. I will advise new moms to just try to give an hour to themselves daily. Find mom friends and share your feelings with her.
I use to follow one mantra only -‘ Be flexible’
Due to social media, we all have high expectations of ourselves. We all want to be that ‘perfect parent.’ Don’t be so hard on yourself & just Let go of your expectations and go with the flow.
Q) What could be the hardest time during motherhood? And why?
Priti Pandit – The hardest part of motherhood is trying to be both a Mom and a Super-Mom.Every phase of motherhood brings certain challenges. For a woman, the hardest part of being a mother is to accept the challenge that she is posed with, at each step of her motherhood journey, and emerge victorious at the end.
I give an example to explain it better. The other day, I gave a cookie to my son. As he took his first bite, it broke into two. He did not want his cookie to break and wanted to gulp the entire piece as a whole. With eyes full of tears and some hope, the first person he came running to was his Mom. He wanted me to fix that cookie back. Somewhere, he felt his mom has superpowers by which she can fix everything right. I tried giving him a new cookie but that did not help the situation.
As a mother, I want my children to believe in me and know that I will always be there for them. I will do my best to help them out in every situation. But I also want them to know that I am a human in the end, with my own set of limitations.
Probably, as they would grow, they would be in a better position to understand this fact. But till the time they don’t, I will have to take this as a challenge and figure out ways to deal with both roles – that of a Mom and a Super Mom.
Q) Can you tell us something more about your website?
Priti Pandit – I was not active on Instagram during the initial years of my motherhood. But in 2022 we landed in Mumbai and I came across Instagram so I started posting about my real side of motherhood through reels. people usually don’t allow moms to complain.
Just because we are blessed and it’s amazing doesn’t mean it’s easy. I don’t think it’s meant to be easy. Keeping this thought in mind I post fun reels on not-so-pretty moments of motherhood so fellow parents, and mothers can feel validated for not loving every second. Venting is good for our mental health and it doesn’t make us weak.
Q) What are the other activities you like to do?
Priti Pandit – For me, the most satisfying activity is cooking! It gives me immense pleasure in creating any dish and when I am trying something new, there is a sense of achievement once I see it ready. I also love listening to music, practicing yoga, and puzzle-solving.
Q) What do you think, is the most precious gift of life? And why do you think so?
Priti Pandit – I believe in giving – giving is the ultimate gift of life – and you don’t need money or special skills to do it. The best way to give to others is to be fully present. To give deeply of yourself, your time, and your attention. The gift of presence, of experiencing every moment fully, is also the greatest gift you can give yourself.
