Priyal Poddar speaks very passionately about the idea that every homemaker has a talent that she can nurture to grow herself and in her life. Juggling various roles from mother to daughter-in-law, to an influencer, to a successful entrepreneur, she finds her grip on time management as the backbone behind her being able to justify all her roles every day. She fondly shares her success with her children and family.
Priyal Pddar is a mother of two kids. She started her journey as a homemaker; and is very fond of cooking, so she used to post pictures on social media platforms. One of her acquaintances suggested that she participate in a contest, and from there, Priyal Poddar’s journey as a blogger, influencer, and content creator started. She worked from home as a campaigner, blogger, influencer, and entrepreneur. In addition to this, Priyal Poddar loves reading, exploring new places and meeting new people, and experiencing new things in life.
ICY Tales is in conversation with Priyal Poddar, where she shares her inspiring story from being a homemaker to an entrepreneur.
Q. How did you steer from being a mom to being an entrepreneur?
Priyal Poddar: Honestly speaking, I have not completed my graduation, and my English was not so good: this was a regret for me as I was concerned about if I have to go to the school my kids and interact with the teachers of my kids, and my kids would be ashamed of me as I can’t speak English. This is why I started working; I write blogs and create content.
I started my Dry fruit business last year, and it gave me hands-on experience with the business models, marketing, and strategies involved. One of my friends has greatly supported me; they help me put my thoughts into words, grammar aids, etc., making me happy and proud. I know the hardships I have undergone to be where I am today; for me cherry on the cake is the pride my kids have for me in their eyes.
I learn every day, and I feel one can achieve many things if driven by passion and determination. I also work as a PR and Campaigner and have a team of bloggers and influencers: I work with around two hundred bloggers and four hundred plus influencers spread across India and through them.
Q. Two roles with equal responsibility and need of time! How do you cope with the stress?
Priyal Poddar: Both things are very important for me; neither can I let go of my responsibilities as a mother nor my responsibilities towards my work because I see my work as one of my kids too. I know no one can be perfect, so I have always tried to strike a balance between both things. I know the hard work, effort, and hardships I have tackled to bring myself here.
I believe in establishing a balance, for I have always made a conscious effort to balance my work and my home; now my daughter has moved to a hostel for her higher studies, I make it a point that whenever my kids want me, I am available for them without having to compromise with my work.
Q. What is your go-to mantra for your house & work management?
Priyal Poddar: I believe that if we want to do something, we can surely do it. For that, one must be driven with motive, must take the leap of faith, and the determination must be there; with these, if one takes the initiative to do the thing is sure one will succeed in that aspiration.
In addition to this having a balanced lifestyle and everyday routine is very important; I have my schedule, and I stick to it. My family also supports me in my endeavors in all possible manners. So I believe balance is very important, and putting in the effort to your work is non-negotiable if someone wants to succeed in their work.
Q. Have you ever been in a situation where you had to choose between home and career? How have you dealt with that
Priyal Poddar: Fortunately, I have never come across any such situation to date, but there have been moments where I would be on edge having thoughts of quitting; the thoughts like enough of this, I can’t do any anymore, am very tired, why am doing this? For whom am I doing this? But again, when I saw my profile and the work I do, that pushed me to continue doing what I am doing.
A few days I gave an interview for ET. That was the day I was proud of myself: I thought if I could do this as a homemaker and come this far, there is no turning back now, and I will not give up. Moreover, I feel that as individuals, we can work till fifty years of age. After that, the body does not allow it, so do what you want to do, and follow your aspirations, moments of distress will come, and you will feel like giving up but fight against that and pursue your passion.
Q. What has been your family’s role in your journey?
Priyal Poddar: They feel proud of me and admire my work. When my interview came on ET Now, their response was inexplicable. My daughter draws a lot of inspiration from me, plus my kids have been my backbone in my learning experience; they have constantly helped me improve my English. Along with my family, there are a few friends who celebrate my work and accomplishments, so this is how their roles have positively influenced my journey.
Q. What is one of the hardest choices you’ve had to make?
Priyal Poddar: I believe the hardest choice was to embark on the journey to prove myself and my worth to the world. It was not easy for me to reach where I am now. Bystanders feel that it’s an easy task to post blogs, videos, etc. And here only I know how I have dealt with my hurdles, overcome my inhibitions, and achieved what I have today.
Q. What message do you have for mothers out there?
Priyal Poddar: Bring out the Best in you; each of you has something special within you, some talent or skills. All you need is to find, nurture, and grow with. Because the day you will achieve something you will feel very good, you will be inspiring yourself! And please do that, not for anybody else but your own sake.
When determination meets zeal, any person can achieve their goal, set new benchmarks, and fly high in their sky of aspirations. Priyal Poddar is one fine example to look up to in this regard. It was her plain determination and hard work which paved her path to a new life and new roles in addition to being a mother and a homemaker. She continues with her aim to inspire other homemakers with her work and engagements.
