Suhani Lal Sanghra: Ever since I graduated, my unwavering conviction to establish my practice fuelled my journey towards entrepreneurship. After over six years of working in dynamic organizations, a pivotal moment arose with a move from Delhi to Pune.
In 2010, driven by a strong determination to carve my path, I founded SPARC DESIGN despite having only one project and limited market exposure in Pune at the time. This decision was rooted in utmost faith and dedication, setting the foundation for what would evolve into a full-service consultancy firm specializing in architecture, interiors, landscape design, master planning, and turnkey solutions.
Q) With over 18 years of experience in architecture and interior design, what inspired you to initiate your practice in 2010, and how has your journey evolved since then?
Suhani Lal Sanghra: ย I always had the โSparcโ or the fire in my belly to start my practice. I set up a small 500 sqft office with only one project in hand, however from there on there was no looking back. The last 13 years from then on have been purely dedication, determination, and hard work. Not being from a business family, I took slightly longer to understand things as no one teaches you the โbusinessโ of design, however, I am very grateful for where I am today appreciative of the growth and accomplishments that have materialized.

Suhani Lal Sanghra: Travel, for me, is not just a means of rejuvenation, but a constant source of learning and inspiration. Beyond merely refreshing the heart and spirit, it opens my eyes to unexpected sources of creativity. During one particular stroll down a street in my travels, I encountered a weave pattern that sparked a creative revelation.
This seemingly mundane experience inspired the implementation of a significant light installation in one of my projects, highlighting how exposure to varied cultures and environments continually shapes and enhances my approach to design.
Q) Suhani Lal Sanghra, can you elaborate on the concept of โThe Antique Modernist Homeโ and โThe Earth and Metal Office,โ for which SPARC DESIGN received awards? What makes these projects stand out?
Suhani Lal Sanghra: โThe Antique Modernist Homeโ is a project reminiscent of the Childhood memories the Client, spent at a scenic hill station. Located in a society of narrow bungalows, this home provides an indoor-outdoor connection that blends seamlessly.
โThe Earth and Metal Office,โ is an office space that innovatively uses the simplest of materials. Textured natural stones and brick inlay patterns play along the flooring enhancing the connected and cohesive space. Dynamic moving and rotating partitions bring life to an ever-changing character.ย

Suhani Lal Sanghra: Nature and travel serve as profound inspirations in my design process. These influences manifest in the organic forms, color palettes, and overall harmony present in my creations. One notable project where these inspirations played a pivotal role is A Piece of Sky.
While on a cruise during my travels, I would keep encountering the multiple, magnificent ever-changing shades of the sky. Awed and inspired by these magnificent skies, we created a home in shades of blues, greys, and blacks. The result was a space that not only captured the essence of the sky but created a truly immersive and unique experience for the inhabitants.
