People are afraid that it is not safe to live in Delhi.

But if you visit Delhi, I promise you that you will surely fall in love with it. The city is full of so much energy. It makes you go crazy! It is full of charm, a charm you cannot run away from. It has a hypnotic hold on anyone who decides to stay. It is bold yet beautiful.

Here is a list of 10 things you must do while in Delhi to fall in love with the city.

1. Eat the mouth-watering street food

The street food of Old Delhi is out of this world. Even though Delhi has several fine dining restaurants, they can never compete with the delicious and amazing Chandni Chowk ka street food. Gol Gappe, Aloo Tikki, Pav Bhaji, Samosas, Paranthas are just a few of them. *drools*

And how can we forget those roadside momos? Heaven! You will find them everywhere in the city. *drools again*

2. Visit India Gate

You cannot come to Delhi and not visit India Gate. Though it may seem like any other monument at first, it is so much more than that. It is the ‘Shaan of Delhi.’ It represents the modern symbol of India’s freedom struggle.

If you go there at night, it would be one of the best moments of your life. While the city is bustling with noise, standing there in front of the India Gate would make you feel peaceful amidst the chaos of the bustling city.

3. Go Street Shopping

Lovely ladies, get ready to be amazed! You can achieve your lifelong dream of shopping in Delhi. Nothing can compete with shopping at Sarojini Nagar and Janpath. You can get anything and everything in these markets at prices so cheap that it will blow your mind!

4. Spend some time at Religious Places

Visit Jama Masjid, Bangla Sahib Gurdwara, Akshardham Temple, and the Lotus Temple. These places will leave you feeling enriched spiritually.

5. Travel in Delhi Metro and DTC buses

The Metro and buses in this city are not only for commuting, but they give you a chance to connect with all the other people living in the city. You have to travel in them to experience it! After a tiring day, when you get to see all the interesting people, you cannot help but smile, and it makes all your stress go away, even if it is only for a moment.

6. Spend time at Historical Monuments

There’s a long list of monuments that you can visit in Delhi. Some famous ones include Qutub Minar, Raj Ghat, Ugrasen ki Bouli, Humayun’s Tomb, Lodhi Garden, Red Fort, and many more.

7. Experience ‘Dilli ki Sardi’

In the winter, the busy city looks beautiful and calm. Walking through the fog gives you a high, literally. No matter how many clothes you wear, you are going to feel this winter hitting you right through the bones. A hot water bath is an absolute bliss!

The pain of getting up in the morning and coming out of ‘rajai’ is only felt during this season. The early morning ‘chai’ with rusk increases the season’s charm. Even though you might hate it at the time, you will miss it when it goes away.

8. Observe beautiful birds at Okhla Bird Sanctuary

Okhla Bird Sanctuary is very near to the city, although it is in Noida. It’s like a little haven. It makes brings you closer to nature after spending days in the hustle and bustle of the city. The beautiful birds steal your heart away.

9. Be inspired by the Sound and Light show at Red Fort

Red Fort is one of the most prominent landmarks of the city. While an introductory tour of this monument is a regular thing, you can also opt to witness the inspiring Sound and Light show here at the Red Fort. The evening brings its charm and unfolds the rich heritage of the place too.
