Icy Tales is in conversation with Anjali Peswani about leading a healthy and happy life by eating right and prioritizing your health.
Q. Can you please tell us something more about yourself to our readers?
Anjali Peswani – I am a nutritionist, and I completed my postgraduate in Sports Science and Nutrition from SNVP Nutrition in 2007. I have been in the field of education in nutrition and diet for the past 15 years, and my principal motto is that one should eat everything but in moderation.
Q. Tell us something about your journey, was getting into nutrition always the aim or something that pushed you towards the same?
Anjali Peswani – When I was in school, the fast food industry grew exponentially. Everyone was binging on KFC and Mcdonald’s. I gained a lot of weight when I was in school, and later, when I grew up, I decided to become a fitter version of myself.
During my journey, I realized how beautiful the science behind it was. It made me decide to pursue it as a career because I wanted to help as many people as possible and make them aware of the consequences of eating unhealthy.
Q. A lot of people don’t have access to nutritionists. So if you were to tell someone generally, what is the basic fundamental or the mantra of a healthy diet?
Anjali Peswani – According to me, the basic mantra behind eating healthy is to eat everything but in moderation. I believe if one is exercising, that should be done in moderation too. A person needs to give priority to his health.
Understanding your body to develop a healthy relationship with it is very important. Your body communicates with you, and it constantly gives you signs if it’s okay or not. It is you who needs to understand the signs and then work accordingly.
Concerning people who do not have resources, they can take help from all available resources on social media. You can find my website and Instagram page, where I put such information for people to understand, and I do not even charge for that. All this information can take the help of such resources. It plays a big role in creating awareness about a healthy life.
Q. In this fast pace world, a lot of time, people cannot have a balanced diet and incorporate vitamins and minerals necessary for the body. Do you think supplements can resolve this issue?
Anjali Peswani – Not at all. The word “supplement” itself means in addition to something. It is to be taken along with the main diet and main nutrition. When we supplement iron or protein, we usually supplement it with real food. The supplement can never replace the main food, and one cannot take it as a meal replacement. Nothing can replace a real meal and real nutrition.
Q. There are many times when people go off track with their diet or fitness goals; tell us what you do to stay focused and some tips that can help readers with the same.
Anjali Peswani – First, you must realize that every aspect of your life is important. Your health is as important as your career. The key to a healthy lifestyle is to balance everything. Good health will help you in the long run because it is a healthy body that will help you achieve anything in life.
You don’t need to crash diet or stay in the gym for three hours. There should be no obsession with such things. One should have a natural life, not seek instant gratification and expect short-term results. Your health should be a lifelong goal. One should be consistent in their journey.
Q.ย What, according to you, is the importance of mental wellness in one’s health?
Anjali Peswani – It is one of the most important things in life. Social media has made us compare to everyone, making us sad and demoralized. Having a healthy mindset about your weight loss journey would be best. If you are mentally strong about your goal, you are in the right mind.
Everyone’s journey is different. Therefore, one should not compare ourselves with someone on social media. If your mental health is fine, trust me, most people can take good care of their bodies. This way, you can mentally train your mind to achieve anything.
Q.ย What is your favorite thing about being into nutrition, and according to you, what makes you unique from all other nutritionists?
Anjali Peswani – Honesty, there is nothing that makes me unique. Nutrition is very simple. I usually tell my clients that I am not doing this for money; they learn and then move on. Learn to eat healthily and understand what works for you. I want to make you aware of how food can affect your overall well-being. Nutrition works as magic for the body.
You don’t need expensive avocados, edamame, or sushi; it is very simple to spend the least amount of money and get the best results. I always teach them basic nutrition. I have reversed diabetes, cholesterol levels, blood pressure, PCODs, arthritis, etc., purely with the help of a good diet. Anyone trained in nutrition can do that. However, each nutritionist has a different approach to doing that.
Q.ย Would you like to highlight some new health or lifestyle concerns growing among people due to a lack of good nutrition and exercise?
Anjali Peswani – My biggest highlight would be a lady who is a normal person with a normal lifestyle and who was not able to conceive. But through diet and natural food, and increasing levels of estrogen, she was able to conceive.
Another would be a client who is a businessman juggling from India to the U.S. He has a very busy lifestyle. He developed high cholesterol. And through the help of diet, I could bring his high cholesterol and blood pressure down.
Q. What are your long-term goals as a nutritionist?
Anjali Peswani – My long-term goal as a nutritionist is that I want to educate more and more people about nutrition. I am working as a lecturer at SNVP University as well. I want to spread as much knowledge as possible. I believe the body is your temple, so one should keep it clean and healthy.
Anjali Peswani is a dedicated nutritionist, and she believes in the motto that, to lead a healthy life, one should not restrict themselves but do everything in moderation. According to her, having a healthy diet is simple, and one can incorporate it easily. She believes a healthy mind and body are the key to achieving anything.
