Q) Tell us something about your journey and what all did u experience to become what you are today?
Erika Platin- I started my journey in Ancient Indian Wisdom, using all my knowledge to heal myself and aim for a better and healthier life for myself and others. The natural medication got me very interested, so I started reading a lot and started certifying myself to become who I am today, a Holistic Health Counsellor.
Q) What is a feminine embodiment coach?
Erika Platin– I work in energy healing, so when you study energy healing, there are different approaches to energy. We have four components in our body, our physical body, mind, energy body and our soul. Our energy body is composed of our chakra system; some spheres carry energy through our body.
But also, between our energy bodies, there are two types of energy, masculine and feminine; both have different qualities. The masculine energy is structured, organized and very squared whereas the feminine energy is more allowing, nurturing, protecting and flowing. We have both embedded in our bodies. So when a woman has more masculine energy embedded, the feminine embodiment coach balances it out.
Q) On your Instagram, you have posted a lot about essential oils; what benefits do you think our body gets from them?
Erika Platin– When we talk about energy, essential oils have the biggest vibrational frequency in the universe. Essential oils help us to raise our vibrations. Also, they give us amazing benefits for our health, so I use them as natural medicines.
I always guide people to shift from artificial medicines to essential oils because they are very powerful. It not only gives us physical benefits but also provides us with great mental health. Essential oils can be taken internally, topically and aromatically. Using them aromatically can give you better mental health.
Q) What is a dance therapist, and how did you become one?
Erika Platin– I started dancing when I was four years old and went through many different genres; I started with tap dance and gradually did a lot of contemporary and jazz. When I was in college, I went through a very difficult phase where I battled anxiety and depression.
Then, I started oriental dancing, and I was able to heal myself from all of this. So afterwards, I got myself certified as a dance therapist. Dance therapy simply means that dance is a healing process to remove all the stagnancies and blockages in the body, instead allowing oneself to connect.
Q) As per your opinion, how does yoga act as a therapy?
Erika Platin– Yoga is a philosophy and a way of life. There are two different approaches. When you think of yoga as a physical exercise, then you are restricting yoga as just a way to train your body. In a real sense, yoga is beyond that. It works on three levels. Yoga means to connect your body, mind and soul. So when you are mindfully practicing yoga, You will learn its philosophy of it. Practising the eight limbs of yoga helps you to heal yourself. It is therapy because it helps you connect your body and mind.
Q) What is that one thing that inspires you to keep going?
Erika Platin– It is my purpose that inspires me to keep going. And my utmost purpose is to help women become fit from within using all the techniques and tools I have learned throughout the years and my experiences.
Q) What is your take on mental health?
Erika Platin– It is fundamental. It is the thing that we need to pay the most attention to. Most people are very focused on their physical and superficial life and do not pay any attention to their mental health. They don’t know that our mental health has much to do with our physical health; it is all interconnected.
Whatever happens in our subconscious mind will eventually appear as a physical ailment because it is not linear. If there is anxiety, depression or any kind of blockage in our chakra, it will create physical ailment and sickness, so we have to pay a lot of attention to our mental health for our overall wellness.
Q) What do you like the most about India?
Erika Platin– I’ve always been in love with India for since I ever remember. I was very connected to India even though I was born here. It always pulled my attention. The philosophy of life in Hinduism in Bhagavad Gita is what I feel the most attracted to. Indian wisdom is very interesting to me, and I have read and researched a lot about yoga and Ayurveda here.
I always believed in my life. India has been my biggest master. It has taught me many things. I have been living here for three years now. It has been a very spiritual and knowledgeable journey. India has a lot of knowledge and wisdom to share with the western civilization.
Q) What is the thing that calms you down when you are at your worst?
Erika Platin– I have different things to calm me down. One is aromatherapy; it helps me to calm my nerves. Other than that, I do Pranayama, and I chant a lot.
Q) You seem to be very close to nature. Are you a nature lover and explorer?
Erika Platin- I am and have always been a nature lover. I was born and raised in the suburbs of Bogotá in a farmhouse, and I have always travelled around and connected with nature. Water and fire are the ones that I feel most connected to.
