I understand how frustrating it can be to get home after a tedious day and have nothing to eat. You might be too tired to go out or too broke to order something. However, a hungry stomach is indeed a deaf stomach, and excuses won’t work on it.
So here are a few cheap and tasty delicacies for students. I hope it satisfies your hunger and adds a little joy to your tiresome day.
1. Bread Pizza

This quick and easy recipe filled with cheesy goodness is fit for an evening snack. In addition, this delicious homemade bread pizza is cost-effective and requires just 5 minutes of your precious time.
Ingredients: Bread slices, tomato ketchup, cheese (grated), topping of your choice.
Method: Take a slice of bread, toast it a little, and spread tomato ketchup on it. Put toppings of your choice, and it could be sliced salami, capsicum slices or chopped onion, etc. Next, grate the cheese on the slice, microwave it or put it in the oven for two minutes. You can also sprinkle pepper and oregano for garnishing. Et voilà!
2. Hung Curd Sandwich

Sandwiches are best known for their easy-to-make recipes and filling tendencies. But they’re delicious and healthy at the same time. This sandwich gives a tingling sensation to your tongue, and your tastebuds couldn’t be any happier.
Ingredients: Hung curd, chopped onion, tomato, capsicum, coriander, salt, pepper, oregano, and chat masala.
Method: Toast the bread if you wish. In a saucepan, put 1 tbsp oil, let it heat, put in the onion, fry them until they are soft, and put the tomatoes, capsicum, and coriander. Add some salt and pepper, and then add the hung curd along with a little chat masala. Stuff the filling in the bread and grill it in a sandwich maker or on a tawa. If you like it spicy, you can add chopped green chilies to the mixture or add red chili powder. Eat it hot with chutney or ketchup.
3. Spicy Bhujia/ Kurkure
A spicy evening snack is a perfect date for a lazy evening (with a cup of tea) or an evening of binge-watching your favorite series because popcorns are too mainstream. This is easy, cheap, and delicious.
Ingredients: Bhujia or Kurkure, chopped onion, cucumber, chopped tomato, lemon juice, chat masala, corns, or nuts (optional)
Method: Put the bhujia or kukure into a bowl, add the chopped onion, cucumber, and tomato, squeeze in some lemon juice and chat masala to the mixture. Cover the bowl with a plate and shake hard or use a big spoon to mix. The mixture should be slightly dry to give you a crunch. You can add corns or nuts to the mixture. You can then slouch on the couch and enjoy.
4. Easy Pancake

Pancakes, need I say more? A perfect English breakfast or a filling evening snack which is mouth-watering, delicious, and healthy. They best go with maple syrup, but I prefer mine with a liberal dribble of Hershey’s chocolate syrup. So here goes the recipe.
Ingredients: 2 cups of milk, three eggs, maida, sugar, vanilla essence, butter.
Method: In a bowl, put together the maida and sugar and mix them well. Pour the milk and whisk it thoroughly to avoid lumps. Add the eggs and the vanilla essence and whisk it again until you get a thick consistency. In a pan, heat the butter and pour some mixture; when the batter turns golden brown, or a bubble comes up on top, flip it over and cook the other side well.
Eat with your preferred syrup while cooking the other batches of the batter.
5. Egg Toast

Egg Toasts are damn tasty, be it a sweet toast or a spicy one. And since bread is global “students’ staple diet,” this bread dish is one of the best discovered.
Ingredients: Eggs, bread, sugar (sweet toast); eggs, bread, chopped onions, chopped chilies, salt, pepper, oregano (spicy toast)
Method: In a big bowl, put as many eggs as you want to add the sugar and whisk well. Dip the bread or the toast in the egg mixture. In a pan, heat some refined oil or just butter and put the bread in the pan. When it starts getting golden brown, flip it and let the other side cook. Sprinkle some cinnamon powder or icing sugar if you want. It is optional.
In the egg mixture, add the chopped onion, chilies, and some salt and pepper for the spicy toast. Fry in the same way and sprinkle some oregano on it. Eat with ketchup or chutney.
There it goes, some beautiful and delicious snacks that you can always depend on. Don’t forget to lick your fingers!
