A public speaker and strategist, Lakshmanan Krish also applies unique methods to teach people the true meaning of life. He unhesitantly calls himself an avid foodie and sleep enthusiast, believing that eating and sleeping are two fundamental aspects of a healthy life.
In his conversation with Icy Tales, Lakshmanan Krish spoke about his professional journey, his life choices, his opinion on stress management, his experiences along with some inputs on how he deals with homesickness.
“I Eat, Sleep, Travel and Teach” – Lakshmanan Krish
Lakshmanan Krish is the master of exploration. He explores different cuisines across the globe and heads to get a taste of it. The traveller also uses a Kollywood Film dialogue of renowned actor Vadivelu, which translates to stating that, even doing nothing is a very hard job. I can do nothing and still enjoy my lone space”, he says.
In the year 2016, his traveling journey began when he did an All-India drive and also explored the Siachen Base Camp. During this time, I got this thought that why should a classroom be restricted to just 4 walls”, he says.
After this, he took people to the mountains, forests, and deserted islands and would teach them life lessons. Through this, he would teach people real-life challenges and how they can apply them in their daily life or businesses. “Today this has become my living; making people travel and learn.”
“All the risks that I take, are the risks by choice” – Lakshmanan Krish
Lakshmanan Krish believes that there are two types of risks, man-made risks, and natural risks. He also recalls how he encountered a man-made risk during his All-India drive when his car got smashed. “We need to calculate and predict the risks, to play a little safer”, he believes.
He recollected a recent incident when he was on a mountain peak. “We left at around 11 pm and we had to reach a particular point at 6 o clock so that we reach the peak at 8 o clock, to help us return safely. But we had reached that point 2 hours late and it became impossible to go further because of the conditions”
The avid traveler further comments that his team calculated the risk, that if they went further that day, they would’ve been victims of an avalanche. “We had to keep all our ego and motivation aside because it was dangerous. The distance would be less than a kilometer but at that time it could’ve put us at a huge risk.”
Lakshmanan Krish also added that the mountains will not go anywhere and he would come back next year to experience it again.
“Training students and seeing their energy will never make you feel old” Lakshmanan Krish
Lakshmanan Krish has trained many entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, and students in different colleges across India and abroad. He feels very energized seeing the enhanced energy of the students and his mentees.
He also appreciates how he gets updated while being with youngsters. “Their perspective is very different from what we think hence I always learn something new from them.”
Lakshmanan Krish believes that a teacher does not just teach what he or she knows, but also has the willingness to learn and get updated constantly. “I am a teacher who is friendly, so it helps me learn a lot as I get to know their kind of vibe”
“We came with nothing and we are going to go with nothing” – Lakshmanan Krish
Lakshmanan Krish strongly agrees that it is okay to fail and make mistakes. Upon asking about dealing with stress, he adds that “The only solution to deal with stress is to know your priorities”. He also believes that one should not take control of things that are not in their hands.
He urges people to take control of their minds instead, to chase the right things. “I always tell people that it is okay to have something, and it is also okay to not have something”. He also follows the concept of not taking life very seriously, and merely enjoying the happy moments that are present.
“We are here to live, so we should not just exist or survive”, he further builds that back in 2016, he was chasing money and fame, which took a toll on his physical and mental life.
He highlights how back then, he used to look very old for his age as he was stressing out and not making the most out of his life. “I invited all negativity in my life because of stress”, he says.
He further believes that his laziness helps him to be stress-free. He brings up an example where he states that he never copied in his exams because copying requires effort, which he didn’t want to put in.
“If you copy, you have to check your surroundings, look at the invigilator and put effort; so it’s simple, don’t copy. You can always write your supplementary paper afterward”, he says.
“Travelling and Teaching has made me who I am today” – Lakshmanan Krish
Lakshmanan Krish casually states that if someone had met him 8 years ago, they would probably never want to see him again. “I was super aggressive back then and I must say that all the calmness, humbleness, and politeness that I have today, is because of traveling”
He agrees that he has become very thoughtful about his decisions after he undertook traveling. He recalls the time during his first All-India drive when they had spent a lot of money and still went through many breakdowns and downfalls. So on his next drive, he took a very minimal budget and still had a very successful trip.
“In general, people are very intolerant, but when we start traveling, our tolerance level becomes good and the same happened with me.” He believes that when the tolerance level is good, people automatically become very happy and they know what to focus on.
Lakshmanan Krish strongly vocalizes that traveling and teaching are very close to his heart. He is very grateful for all the positive changes that his profession has brought to him. At present, he is training many entrepreneurs, professionals, business leaders, and students across the world and continues to inspire others through his journey.
