In today’s world, there would be a very few of the population who are unaware of the Harry Potter movies. First published in 1997 by the British author J.K. Rowling under the banner of Bloomsbury publications.
The harry potter series consists of 7 books: The Philosopher’s stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix, Half-blood Prince, and Deathly hallows.
The books became famous among adult readers and young minds and received positive reviews and success across the globe. The series is noted as the best book-selling series in history and have been translated into close to 80 other languages.
The main genres among various are fantasy, drama, adventure, mystery, narrative, and coming of age. But according to Rowling, the main theme that characterizes Harry Potter is Death. It also covered numerous themes and several cultural and historical references.
Considering the success of the books, Warner bros in 1997 owned the film rights for Harry Potter movies from J.K. Rowling. The book series was adapted into an eight harry potter movie chain. On the condition that Rowling had the creative control of the franchise and also the producer in later parts of the film.
Plot
The main story arc deals with an orphan boy Harry Potter and his confrontation with Lord Voldemort, a dark wizard who wishes to be immortal, like any magical wizard. The theme is set in a magical school, Hogwarts, in a magical world.
The main genre is Death, and the book starts with the death of Harry’s parents at the hands of Voldemort; Harry somehow survives the incident, and Voldemort is severely injured, keeping him away from the wizarding world.
Harry Potter lives with his paternal uncle and aunt- The Dursleys- after the death of his parents. Until 11, Harry Potter is forced to live in a cupboard under the stairs. It is when he meets with a giant wizard, Hagrid, who invites him to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Witchery.
Here, Harry realizes he is much more famous in the wizarding world since he was the one and only wizard known to survive after an encounter with Lord Voldemort.
In the school, Harry befriends Ron Weasley, a member of a large wizarding family, and Hermione Granger, a wizard from a Muggle(non-wizards) household.
He also encounters the school’s principal, Albus Dumbledore, and potions master, Severus Snape, who develops a dislike for Harry. Still, the actual grounds of his behavior were unveiled in the later parts of the story, Draco Malfoy is from a pure-blood wizard family with whom he develops enmity.

In 1999, after gaining the movie rights of Harry Potter, Warner bros started the production of the first movie, The sorcerer’s stone. The star cast was kept as British as possible, according to the demands of J.K. Rowling, with some Irish actors here and there, but according to the book.
For the role of Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe was selected by the director David Heyman. Daniel is noted as the perfect choice for the role of Harry Potter today. Emma Watson as Hermione Granger and Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley were selected by auditioning several 1000 kids.

The main storyline revolved around Harry and his early days at Hogwarts. He becomes known about his truth, his parent’s death, and the presence of the dark wizard, Lord Voldemort. Voldemort tries to steal the sorcerer’s stone to get his life back. The stone is kept safe and in possession of the headmaster Dumbledore somewhere in the Hogwarts.
Quirinius Quirrell, an ally of Voldemort, joins the school as a professor and helps him from inside. The movie ends with Harry and his friends forestalling the stone and thus delaying the resurrection of Voldemort once more.

The movie covers another attempt of Voldemort to return. He used his 16-year-old self memory stored in a diary for the medium of his return and used Ron’s sister, Ginny, this time.
Once a student of Hogwarts, Voldemort used to go by the name Tom Marvolo Riddle at that time and roamed around these walls. He was also the heir of Salazar Slytherin. The movie ends with Harry destroying the diary and thus delaying the resurrection of Voldemort once more.

Harry learns that Sirius Black, a mass murderer, and supporter of Lord Voldemort, has escaped from Azkaban (wizarding prison). He later learns that Sirius Black was his father’s best friend and godfather. And that he had betrayed his parents by giving their information to Lord Voldemort, resulting in Harry’s parent’s death.
In the end, everything gets cleared when Harry meets all three best friends of his father, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew. It is learned that not Sirius but Peter Pettigrew was the betrayer and the real culprit. Harry reunites with his godfather and saves his life by rescuing him from death punishment.

Hogwarts hosts the Triwizard competition along with Durmstrang Institute and Beauxbatons Academy. The participants are to be chosen through Goblet of fire, and students above 17 years can only be chosen as participants. Harry is chosen as a participant, which confuses the crowd. Instead, it was a full-proof plan set up by Voldemort for his revival.
Dumbledore announces the news of Voldemort’s revival, but the Ministry of Magic refuses to believe this. For the plan to execute, he needed Harry’s blood, so he transported Harry Potter outside the Hogwarts. This time he succeeds in his revival. At the same time, Harry manages to escape from his clutches.
Harry Potter and the Order of the phoenix
On the news of the revival of Lord Voldemort, the whole wizarding world is in fear. Dumbledore arranges his team of most trusted wizards to save the world from Voldemort.
A duel takes place in ministry where Voldemort entraps Harry. In the duel, Sirius Black is found dead. The ministry confirms Voldemort’s resurrection after seeing him in the ministry itself.

Harry finds out that Voldemort has split his soul into 7 parts and has sealed them inside 7 items, called Horcruxes, to make him immortal. And he needs to destroy these 7 items to kill Voldemort. Keeping in view of the circumstances, Dumbledore takes Harry Potter under him and trains him in Witchcraft to keep him safe.
The movie ends with the death of Dumbledore, leaving Harry devastated by the news. In the end, Harry decides to leave the school and walks his journey to kill Voldemort.

The Harry Potter movies can be streamed on HBO max and Peacock premium subscription streaming services. The Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and Ralph Fiennes starrer film series is available to stream on several streaming services. The entire film series used to jump back and forth between HBO max and Peacock premium, but they are now available at all times.
Being heavily in demand, the eight films franchise keeps shifting between different streaming services. However, Peacock offers some free movies, while the Harry Potter movies are available at nominal rates.
