Avantika is an event entrepreneur and a fitness coach. She was born and brought up in Saudi Arabia and did most of her schooling there. Then Avantika shifted back to India in Mumbai and completed her studies in Mass Media at RD National College. Initially, there were two interests of Avantika, either she wanted to become a camera person or an event entrepreneur. She started working at 17 as a photographer and covered a lot of reality shows, fashion shows, parties, events, and more.
Simultaneously, Avantika took up social media marketing to gain some experience. From one client, it grew up to more. Fast forward to 2 and a half years of her photography journey, Avantika had to discontinue because of some personal reasons. Then, she started focusing on her event company with her partner-cum fiancé (Coach Anand Kumar), and in 2019 started her company, ANVI EVENTS. She is also a co-founder of a gym venture called OSAAT FITNESS in Thane, Mumbai.
ICY TALES is in conversation with Ms. Avantika about her inspiring journey and plans.
Q) How did your fitness journey start, and what inspired you to have OSAAT FITNESS?
Avantika- Ideally, OSAAT FITNESS was a concept of my partner (Coach Anand Kumar). He wanted to start a venture called OSAAT, an acronym for one step at a time, where people who wanted to become fit and healthy could come. Because I also did the certification and had been training people, I eventually joined him, and we did it together. The motto of starting this was not just tracking or losing weight; it was to be healthy, fit, and free from diseases. That’s how we started the place.
Q) What are ANVI events all about? And how do you start that?
Avantika – The concept of ANVI EVENTS was that we wanted to do events, not weddings and birthday parties but artist events. Many local musicians, rappers, stand-up comedians, and people don’t get TED platforms to showcase their talents in India. So our event company gives platforms to all these new artists who want acknowledgment and the presence of people for their talent. Our goal was to give the platform and great audience to these people.
Q) What are your long-term goals and plans for your two ventures?
Avantika – To put it very simply, ANVI EVENTS is the platform for the artists, and we will continue to provide our support to the local artists. I intend with ANVI EVENTS to give them the platform with which they can do some wonder. At the same time, for OSAAT FITNESS, we do not want to make it a business but to help people change their lifestyle so that after ten years, they look back, they should feel that they had increased their lifespan in this journey.
Q) How do you describe yourself as an entrepreneur?
Avantika- I would say that I am very pepped up and motivated, and I am a great multitasker. I am not exaggerating right now, but it is true I can do a lot of things simultaneously. It’s been three years right now of running ANVI EVENTS and OSAAT FITNESS, and I have never gotten confused between the clients of the two or messed up between the two. I always know what I am doing and have a track of everything.
Q) It is said that consistency is the key, but sometimes we all can go off track! What do you always do to keep yourself motivated?
Avantika- I would say consistency is interpreted wrongly by people nowadays. Let’s say we are talking about fitness, and it is said that you should be consistent to get desired results. It does not mean you should hit the gym for 30 days a month; by doing this, you will get exhausted and go off track for a long time. The point is that yes, it is true that you need to be consistent, but breaks and recreation are also equally necessary. Never overtire yourself; take small breaks.
Q) Other than fitness, what are the two things that can quickly light up your mood?
Avantika – The things that quickly light up my mood in between all the hustle are spending time with my family and long drives.
Q) Tell us something about your journey?
Avantika – I started working at the age of 17, and right now, I am 22. I have jumped into four fields in this period, given my 100% to all these fields, and always made wise decisions. Achieving all this at an early age makes me proud of myself; I am not boasting, but I didn’t even attend a party in my college life and was always focused on life. At that time, I felt bad, but it was all worth it in the end.
Q) Being into fitness and keeping physically fit is the aim, but how do you keep yourself mentally at peace and healthy?
Avantika – This is a big myth that physical fitness is all you need. As I previously mentioned, our concept of fitness is entirely different. Mental fitness is equally important as your physical fitness. It should work on your mental as well as your physical health. People coming to us are always convinced that they are prioritizing themselves by coming to us and giving that time and taking care of themselves; that gives them mental peace. And this works for both my partner and me too.
Q) Describe something as an entrepreneur you think is very important and one thing that an entrepreneur shouldn’t have?
Avantika – As an entrepreneur, I think socializing and building a network are very important. Not in terms of partying but having good communication skills and inspiring people as your network is very important. One thing that an entrepreneur shouldn’t have is holding him out. One should not fly high on achievements and be connected to the roots and ground.
