Doctors on Wheels is an Instagram page and YouTube Channel run by a family of 2 Doctors and their children. Dr. Viney Khatri, Dr. Deepika, Aadi, and Nyra are behind this successful page. Dr. Viney is a General Physician, and Dr. Deepika is a Pediatrician.
Doctors on Wheels shared their traveling experiences and how they balance their work-life and passion in their conversation with Icy Tales. These doctors have turned their passion into a part-time profession by traveling around India during their breaks. They vlog their experiences and make memories together by posting content on their channels.
A family who shares the extent of spending time with each other and managing their professional lives inspires people to take time off work and give some time to their family and passions, making it equally important for their mental health. Doctor on Wheels also tries to share its vlogs so that people understand the value of family time, increased happiness, strengthening family bonds, and maintaining a good work-life balance.
Q) Your Instagram page โDoctors on Wheelsโ is a very interesting username. Since you both are doctors, how did you gain this interest in traveling, and how did all this begin?
Doctors on Wheels:ย When we started this channel, we werenโt sure we would invest fully into this or create aย professional track. We just started this so that we will have a lot of memories later on. We travel here and there, record those moments and make memories.
We have a proper management system on which we are working, wherein other doctors handle the patients when we are not present. In this system, if thereโs any emergency, we can handle it online. We work for two months continuously, and after that, we take a break of 2 to 4 days. During that break, we travel to places around India. So this is how we manage things while traveling.
Q) Since you travel as a family, what is the importance of family bonding?
Doctors on Wheels: Everyone has a beautiful family. Our extended families have always been great to us. They are very cooperative, allowing us to go anywhere and enjoy the things we like doing. They support our passion and donโt restrict us from doing anything.
Q) What is something traveling has taught you?
Doctors on Wheels: ย This is our passion, where we get a kind of body detoxification. We can take out all types of stress and tension when we travel. This is a quality time when we come closer to our family, and this is what we are traveling has taught us.
Q) Many people are making traveling their profession. Have you ever thought of making traveling a full-time profession?
Doctors on Wheels: We canโt do that as we are doctors. We have devoted our time and learning to medical things. Being a doctor is our priority, and traveling is our passion. We have dual professions right now, making traveling a profession as well.
We have a team of doctors with us, so when we are not here,ย they arrange online interviews, and we take online consultations with our patients. This is because so many patients are our regular ones, and they get attached to us and hence take medicines prescribed by only us. So we take online consultations for them and have a team of doctors who manage other patients.
Q) Traveling around the country, you might get sick due to nausea and other sicknesses. What do you have to say about this?
Doctors on Wheels: As we have two children, we must take care of them and carry all the necessary medicines. Nyra, our little one, is so small that she cannot eat outside food every time. So we get small things like ready-to-make things and other homemade stuff. Whenever we stay in any hotel, we ask the concerned persons to make food according to our kids, which is how we manage. Whenever we stop, we give our kids the food according to our choices.
Q) How have your children adapted to traveling around the world?
Doctors on Wheels: Nyra has been traveling since she was three months of age. She has made approximately 4 to 5 trips with us, and now she knows she has to travel with us because we canโt be without them. We hardly travel 10 to 20 kilometers, then stop so that our child adapts to the surroundings. That is the main concern when traveling in the mountains because we havenโt experienced any issues when we travel on planes.
The most important thing is that we do not make a target that we have to reach. We walk and do according to them. If it is 50 kilometers, and they donโt adjust to the environment, we stop there, find a hotel and stay for a while.
Q) What is the best and worst part about traveling?
Doctors on Wheels: The worst part is sometimes the kids get very cranky during travel. Occasionally, we get tired as we have traveled 100+ km and want to relax, but the kids say they want to play. Sometimes, they get claustrophobic because they are in the car for a long time, but at that moment, we carry all stuff like chairs, tables, and everything to make them feel comfortable. We have a YouTube Channel of the same name where you can see how we carry the kids and how we deal with these situations generally.
The best part is that we get quality time with each other. Both of us are working, so we spend time together as a couple when we travel and when the kids sleep. We talked to each other and discussed the business and our family. When we travel, we get to know our children more as they speak their hearts with us.
We have a son who is about to turn seven. He is a great cook and has a passion for it, and he opened this up to us when we were traveling. We feel he has grown so much when talking about his heart. We realize that itโs not just kids who grow up; we also get older daily. Traveling time is the most quality time to spend with our family.
Doctors on Wheels aim to spend more time with their children and systematically balance their professional life. They aim to travel to more places, support their children, and, most importantly, make memories.
