Some other symptoms of fever include cold sweat, having a high temperature of the body, watery eyes, feeling cold, having a dry mouth and etc. You may start to show these symptoms right after waking up, the next day.

  2. Exercise: Going for a little walk or exercising briefly is known to increase the temperature of the body. You can consider this method for doing so but, be sure not to get caught while exercising because a sick person does not have enough energy to exercise.
  3. Eat Spicy Foods: Spicy foods like chilies, and jalapenos cause the temperature of the body to rise. You might want to try eating chili for it. But make sure you don’t binge eat on it as eating too much spicy food may cause an upset stomach for real.
  4. Use a hot compress/ heating pad: You can use hot compresses or electric heating pads to warm your body up a bit. Again, don’t overdo it as it may cause problems if you do it too much.

Apart from this, there are a few more ways that might help you:

  1. Raise the temperature of the thermometer: This can be done by various methods, some of which are running the thermometer under hot water, rubbing the tip of the thermometer with your fingers, Shaking the thermometer vigorously such that the level of the mercury inside it rises and etc.
  2. Excuse yourself for going to the washroom: Fever may cause you to use the washroom frequently. You may use this as an advantage and keep using the washroom so that it feels that you’re indeed unwell.

2. Fake an Upset Stomach

Another commonly used excuse to stay home is food poisoning. You can start by complaining about having a stomach ache a day prior. Also, keep in mind that you are supposed to have less food or refuse to have food completely in order to make it sound realistic. You can’t be binge eating with a tummy ache.

You might even consider telling your parents how you feel nauseous and that you still remember that childhood vomiting incident. You feel exactly the same way, with strong waves of nausea hitting you from time to time.

The next day, right after you wake you can start to show the other symptoms of food poisoning. Make sure to visit the washroom and stay in there for quite some time, pretend to vomit by making retching sounds in the washroom, and have a throw-up bucket next to your bed and keep rubbing your stomach repeatedly.

Want to give it a touch of realness? Sniffing pepper would help induce sneezing and coughing mechanisms in your body to get rid of the particles of the spice.

It would also help you get a stuffy nose or a runny nose to make matters interesting. It sounds fun but can get risky if you overdo it. Make sure to do it in healthy amounts and don’t just keep on doing it, it might make you get the illness for real while attempting to fake sick.

The common cold is always associated with sore throats, you can complain about having a sore throat along with a dry mouth and ask your mother to hand you a bottle of warm water for the same. It is worth mentioning that the hot water bottle is really helping you with your terrible throat ache.

Spraining an ankle may not be considered being sick but sure is a way to help you not go to school. You just have to act like you are unable to walk properly. Bandaging the target leg, not putting weight on the target leg, and walking with support are a few ways to make people believe that you have your ankle sprained.

Also, make it a point to reduce your movement and prefer sitting rather than walking around. It might make things suspicious. To make it even more effective try taking bed rest and not moving at all. Another important thing to do is hiss in pain, doing so would convince others that you are truly in pain.

An amazing excuse to stay at home and laze around watching your favorite web series or playing your favorite online game. Be assured, even a doctor might not be able to tell that you’re faking it if you pretend to be in pain well enough. The least the doctor would say is, “it’s just a small injury, some rest would help it get better in a day or two. ”

B. Tips and Tricks To Make It Realistic

1. Fake Sick a Day Before You Skip School

This is the most important thing to do a day prior to skipping school. Pretending to be ill 15 minutes before going to school would make it obvious enough to your parents. For your parents to believe that you are indeed unwell, we must prepare well before.

Decide the sickness you want to fake and properly research the symptoms faced in it. Begin pretending to have the symptoms of the illness one by one, at least 24 hours before. Start with slight symptoms then move on to pretending the other symptoms. It is crucial to take it at the right pace and with proper consistency.

Start eating lesser, say no even to the things you enjoy doing, and go off to bed early no matter how energized you are. In addition, make sure to take care of some additional measures like applying a pale foundation, going off to bed early, resting your head on the desk occasionally, and complaining.

This is another important trick to make your fake sick feel realistic and believable. Pretend to be in discomfort as much as, it is an important step for the people around you to see and hear you feeling ill.

Showing the inability to stay focused on the tasks you are doing, putting on an act of being tired, using headaches as an excuse to not doing even your favorite things, talking about thinking of visiting the doctor’s office, not being your usual self are a few tips to show you are in discomfort.

Create a situation where the people around you are compelled to sympathize with you and try to put themselves in your shoes. By doing so, it would appeal to them to let you off from school for a day or two.

Complaining about how you feel is the best thing you can do to make your friends and parents believe in you. It is the time to bring out the cried wolf in you. Sounds like a bad idea. But, honestly, it works wonders.

Nobody likes to complain for nothing and complaining about why you feel this way and that you do not like feeling this way as it is restricting you from getting your tasks done is a reverse psychology that makes the people around you believe you are not happy with it. But it still doesn’t change the fact that you need rest as it is your “sick day.

Also, complaining is something that we do not like. It is tolerable if done, but things are righteous when overdone. Here is where you have to make the balance. Check that you complain enough to make the people around you concerned for you but don’t overdo it. Overdoing it might backfire on you.
