MOVE-IN DAY
To make this the perfect college packing list for girls, we decided to add some tips for your moving day. There are a thousand things that must be on our minds, and it might seem a little intimidating, but it is not. There will be a ton of people there to help you, seniors, volunteers, and faculty.
The other thing to absolutely make sure of when you are packing for your moving day is how to pack. All your stuff needs to be packed in big storage boxes or bags or big bins, and it’s best if you keep 2 or 3 of those back for better storage in your dorm room. Rest, you can send it back to your parents.
This will be the first time you will see your dorm room, so while buying things from the list, don’t just assume you will have plenty of space to keep everything. The room will be obviously small compared to your room at your house, and there will be many things extra you will need to fit in that very room. So, my suggestion will be not to buy things that are huge in size and not bring everything from your room to your dorm room.
The next suggestion on the college packing list for girls will be to coordinate with your roommate. There is no point in having two mini-fridges or microwaves, and it’s best if you already get yourself in the habit of saving money. So, coordinate with your roommate on these big purchases, things that you only need one in a room, and split the bill. Get your roommate’s contact number before moving day and have a good discussion about the shared essentials. That will save you from spending extra money on things, and it is a good way to start a relationship with your roommate.
This suggestion is my personal favorite, watch a lot of DIY videos for your dorm room. Be it for decoration purposes, storage ideas hacks you will need in college, and search on Pinterest for some ideas. These things help you big time, look pretty, and comes in cheap. Again, it would be best if you started saving money because you will always be on a budget.
Pack according to the season. If you know you will get to visit your home before the season changes, pack the stuff you for that night. An example, if you are moving during the summers, pack light and just your summer clothes. Don’t pack stuff like jackets and boots and mufflers. You can get that stuff when you visit home, and this will make everything a lot easier because by then, you will have an idea of what you need and how these things work.
The last and the most important tip will be to pack an essentials bag separately. Things tend to get misplaced when you are packing and moving, and everyone gets confused. So, the best thing to do when you are in this situation and avoid future irritation is to pack a bag of things you will need in a handbag or a sling bag. A bag that will stay with you throughout the process. Things like phone, charger, water, your wallet, and ID.
