The Top 10 Best Lawyer Movies of All Time

Here are a few legal dramas which, in my humble opinion, are worthy of being called the best lawyer movies.

10. Liar Liar (1997)

Let’s start light with a fantastical comedy. Lair Lair is a movie about a lawyer Fletcher Reedewho is a pathological liar.

His whole career has been built on lying in courts, and has is living the good life at the start of the movie, but he is divorced from his wife and breaks promises to his son.

One broken promise and a birthday wish later, he finds that he is unable to lie. This leads to a series of very Awkward and hilarious events, making Reede realize that he cannot lie.

After this, he does everything in his power to delay the hearing of a very important, which takes place anyway.

How Fletcher Reede fights that day in court without being able to lie and how he fixes everything with his son and ex-wife is the story for which you need to watch this one of the best lawyer movies.

The movie has been remade in Bollywood with the name ‘Kyonki Mai Jhoot Nahi Bolta’ “Because I Don’t Lie.”

9. Legally Blonde (2001)

Again, a light-hearted movie. But no one can deny that it is one of the best lawyer movies of recent times.

It is based on a novel of the same name by Armanda Brown and is inspired by her own experience of joining Harward Law as a blond and fashion-obsessed law student.

Elle Woods is a blonde sorority girl who is dumped by her boyfriend Warner Huntington III after he gets accepted into Harward University.

Elle, determined to win him back, gets admission in Harward Law and decides to show Warner that she is smart and serious enough by getting a Juris Doctor Degree.

Along the way, Elle actually realizes her own potential, breaks the stereotype of dumb blondes, and fights a case under Emmett Richmond’s supervision, a previous junior partner of her professor, who notices her potential.

It is one of the best lawyer movies, along with being a feministic movie that thousands of girls out there can be whatever they put their minds and hearts

8. The Verdict (1982)

Possibly one of the best lawyer movies of all time, the verdict takes you on a roller coaster ride. This courtroom drama story is about an alcoholic lawyer Frank Galvin who has lost his reputation as a lawyer and been fired from his prestigious law firm.

He is given a medical malpractice case in which both the parties are ready to settle, but Frank, who was moved by the client in a comatose condition, declines the settlement and moves the trail to court.

Frank has many setbacks along the way and is hopeless at the end of the trail but delivers a brief, powerful, and moving closing argument.

The movie teaches us that you can always get back up and do better every day, no matter how low you fall in life.

7. A Few Good Men (1992)

One of my personal favorite, best lawyer movies. The movie is based on the play of the same name written by Aaron Sorkin.

The uniqueness of this movie lies in its case. A Few Good Men shows us the Story of a court-martial trial

Lt. Daniel Kaffee must defend his clients, two U.S. Marines who are both charged with the murder of their fellow Marine.

The Defence looks weak for both the clients, and Lt. Kaffee faces many problems along the way.

It shows the inner working of trail cases of the U.S. Marines giving viewers a fresh and novel law approach. Its dialogue ‘you can’t handle the truth’ has been included in the best dialogues of all times, ranked at 29 no.

6. And Justice for All

One of the classical best lawyer movies, And Justice for All, is probably one of the only movies of its time which show the corruption and abuse of law inside the legal system.

Arthur Kirkland is a lawyer in jail for punching Judge Henry.T. Fleming while defending an innocent client Jeff McCullaugh, who was arrested for a minor trafficking incident and is now spending time in jail for a mistaken identity as a serial killer

Kirkland gets out of jail and if hired by Judge Fleming, to defend him in a brutal assault and rape case.

Believing the Kirkland and his bad history will be a good show chance at swaying the jury, he hires Kirkland.

This movie shows that even the legal system has people who blatantly abuse the very law they swear to uphold and protect. It also has one of the most famous courtroom dialogues of all time ‘Out of order.”

5. Pink

People might not know much about this movie, but it is one of the best lawyer movies of Bollywood that I have had the privilege of watching in recent times.

The story revolves around three women Minal, Falak, and Andrea, who, after being assaulted, have been framed falsely in a case against them as prostitutes and in an attempt to murder by the perpetrators.

Deepak Sehgal, a retired lawyer, takes on the case of Minal a young woman. In court, The prosecutions heavily rely on the girls’ bad moral character, especially Minal, who is charged with an attempt to murder.

Deepak closes the argument with a simple but powerful statement. No Means No, and his client said no.

The Movie deals with the reality of the Indian legal system regarding the assault and rape cases that are filed and who this legal system treats women on such occasions.

4. Anatomy of Murder (1959)

One of the greatest courtroom dramas and the best lawyer movies of all time. Anatomy of Murder is based on the novel of the same name, which in turn was based on a murder trial that the author had fought as a defense attorney.

Anatomy of a Murder (1959) ORIGINAL TRAILER [HD 1080p]

The story revolves around a previous district attorney who had lost his job and now spends his days fishing and playing the piano.

He gets a call to defend Lt. Frederick Manion, who has murdered an Innkeeper because his wife accused him of murder. He has to fight against the big-shot lawyer Claude Dancer.

This legal thriller is fascinating as the audience is kept on the edge of their seats, waiting for the case to unravel, which does not happen until the movie’s very last scene.

3. The Lincoln Lawyer (2011)

Presumably, one of the most thrilling best lawyer movies of the past decade, The Lincoln Lawyer, is based on a series of novels of the same name.

Mickey Haller is a criminal defense lawyer who works from his black Lincoln Town Car instead of an office and takes on small criminal cases.

He then presented with a high-profile case of a wealthy real estate agent Mary Windsor’s playboy son Louise Roulet who is accused of brutally beating a prostitute.

The striking similarities of this case with a previous case in which his client Jesus Martinez had been found guilty despite his claims of being innocent make Haller wonder if Roulet is, in fact, innocent.

The movie takes you on a thrilling ride as Haller tries to find ways to get justice for Martinez while still being the defense for Roulet

2. No One Killed Jessica

This Bollywood flick is probably one of the best Lawyer movies ever to be made on a true story.

No One Killed Jessica is based on a model named Jessica Lal how was shot for not serving alcohol after midnight.

The movie shows the public uproar and the two cases in the Jessica case. It also shows us the power which the media can use for the betterment of this society.

The performance of the cast has been critically acclaimed, as has been the screenplay of the film.

1. To Kill a Mocking Bird (1962)

It has been recognized as not only one of the best lawyer movies of all time, but has been recognized as the greatest American film of all time.

Few have not, at the very least, heard of the novel kill a mockingbird, and most of us have read the fascinating tale.

The movie does complete justice to the novel with phenomenal acting performances. The Oscar-nominated movie won three academy awards, including Best Actor for Gregory Peck.

For those who have not read it, the story deals with Atticus Finch, a lawyer who believes that justice is a right for everyone.

He takes on the case of a black man named Tom Robinson who has been accused of raping a young White female named Mayella Ewell

As the case develops, his children also mature faster. It deals with sensitive topics, such as rape, domestic abuse, racial discrimination, etc., and will leave the audience with a sense of fulfillment at the end of the story.

The best lawyer films are the movies that keep the audience guessing to the last moment or impart a powerful message. The aforementioned movies are some which have these qualities.
